Ordinary Person
The Everyman is one of twelve archetypes organized around ideas from Jung’s archetype theory, seeking a natural place among others and fearing not fitting in. Its gift is treating people consistently, whoever they are.
Being singled out may make you uncomfortable before it makes you pleased. When someone else is being put on a pedestal, you tend to watch from a little way back.
You may feel most at ease where no one needs to be special. This is less about refusing to get ahead than wanting to stand on the same ground as everyone else.
For the Everyman, not fitting in can hurt more than criticism. “You don’t really fit here” stays with you. So you adapt, even in moments when you would not have needed to.
People find that reassuring. Around you, they do not have to put on a performance. But after enough time adjusting to everyone else, you may lose track of what you thought in the first place.
